Toni Gerdes joins Stitchers Escapes for the first time on the 2019 Escape to Alaska, teaching “Abyss,” a NEW design and a companion piece to her wildly successful “Fire & Ice.”
Toni holds Level II Teachers’ certification from the National Academy of Needlearts (NAN) specializing in canvas embroidery. She loves to use all the varied embroidery stitches on a canvas ground.
She currently serves on the Board of NAN as the Director of Education after serving 5 years as Assistant Director of Teachers’ Certification. Toni has also served on the Board of Directors for several ANG (American Needlepoint Guild) chapters as Program Chair & President. She is a past President of NETA (National Embroidery Teachers Association). She has received numerous awards for her designs.
Toni has taught for NAN, EGA (Embroidery Guild of America), and ANG, as well as guilds & shops. She began teaching nationally in 2010 and she loves the interaction with students and helping them love stitching as much as she does.
Toni has been published in Needlepointers, Needlepoint Now, and in Needle Arts as the Artist Across America.
She enjoys all types of stitching and especially sharing her knowledge with others. Her classes are a relaxing learning experience.
She currently resides with her son, his girlfriend and son, and a wonderful dog in Buena Vista, Colorado, a small town at 8000 feet in the Collegiate Peaks range of the Rocky Mountains.
